I swear I only spent 15 minutes on Tumblr and most of that was reading a fic.

I got a push notification that one of my moots reblogged something so I decided to check it out. I even reblogged it myself before scrolling through my dash, as I do when I end up in this hell app.

Cue posts from both Hiiro and Jessie yelling about AI slop """art""" (wherein Hiiro compared Relena to a Gaia Online avatar lmao) which led to me going, "What happened now?"

No the artist isn't. Cause why would any real artist draw a motorcycle with not only 2 exhaust pipes coming out of NONSENSE areas, but also a motorcycle with completely different hub and spoke styles on different sides OF THE SAME WHEEL. Not too mention the front tire is that of a cruiser style motorcycle while the back tire is that of a CR (like a Kawasaki Ninja).

I know this shit bc my father owned both kinda of motorcycles. That shit would've been obvious to ANY FUCKING ARTIST who used any sort of real reference, but completely missed by a slop AI user.

Also, can we stop pretending like today's AI slop even LOOKS like the characters?? Cause it sure as shit doesn't. Unless you want generic Gaia Online Relena and Heero I guess.

Can I just add onto this: I don't care if an (alleged) artist "makes some tweaks" to AI slop art — it's still fucking AI slop art! It still essentially steals from an artist! I don't care if it "uses official art as a source" it is STEALING THE OFFICIAL ART THEN that was drawn by an actual artist, then chewed up and regurgitated.

I don't know why AI """art""" is seen as okay but AI """writing""" is lambasted against. I get accused of using AI because of fucking em dashes (when AI stole from us not the other way around get the fuck out of here) and those same people then go "look at this pretty gen AI art I did!"

It is literally shitting on the artists in not just this fandom but everywhere all over that their work isn't worth anything. That it's somehow "lesser" than other fan works. It's offensive to me as someone who used to do fanart. It's offensive to me as someone who has many artist friends who draw for Gundam Wing and other fandoms (as well as their original art).

If you can't afford to commission an artist then budget for it like you would anything else you find worth saving up for. No one is entitled to anything in fandom — not art, not fanfiction, not fan mixes or aesthetic boards, nothing. It is given to everyone for nothing, it is a labour of love.

A labour of love that I guess isn't appreciated!

I will call out AI slop every fucking time I see it I love fandom too much to let it get overrun with soulless stolen regurgitated garbage both the visual art and written word because why the fuck do we do anything we do in fandom? Why continue to pour my soul into my works if some asshole can just type a few words into some stupid AI machine?

honestly I understand why my younger self shit on this fandom so much and it wasn't even doing shit like this back then now it's like
