The first NaNoWriMo I won was in 2013 with 50,088 words total. I called it Let the Sun Fade Out which is a lyric from a Linkin Park song. I wrote it out entirely by hand, which is a feat in itself, and I told myself back then that I would let it sit a bit and then type everything up so I could edit or whatever.
And then I forgot about it.
Until now, where I am going through the arduous task of taking a hundred some sheets of loose leaf and typing them up.
"How's the going for you?"
Well. I am on chapter three, almost to four, out of six total for the first version of this fic, so I am a little over halfway there.
I made it six chapters in before I guess I'd realised the fic just wasn't working out, and so I started a new page and started over, as one does with a NaNoWriMo project, where I wrote seven more chapters before never touching the project again. I don't know if maybe I'd realised this kind of fic just won't work or...I don't know.
I'm going to post it on
dearest_disclaimer when I have it all typed up as part of my "from the archives" series (where I post old and crusty fics I either posted on FFN a long, long time ago, posted them on one of my old websites, or just never posted at all).
And then I am going to snark it. Because holy shit guys. It's bad. like BAD. B A D.
"So what's the premise?"
From my story outline notes:
"Well how bad can it be?"
Excerpt #1:
Believe me. There is no redeeming this one. The best thing to do: snark it and then light it on fire lol

From my story outline notes:
AU where Heero's parents are alive and he joins OZ (because of Seis and Uncle Trant). To keep tabs on the scientists after they leave OZ because they disagreed with Operation M, the leader of the OZ Specials, Colonel Treize Khushrenada, sends cadet [Heero Yuy] as a SPY GUNDAM PILOT.It was 2013. I was 21 years old, and I hadn't done ANY CANON REVIEW IN MY PREP FOR NANO THAT YEAR. I was going based off of memory and vibes.
"Well how bad can it be?"
Excerpt #1:
“Tell me, how are your combat skills?”Excerpt #2:
“I’m in the top five of my year, sir.”
Despite wearing hard soled sneakers, Aodhan could feel how plush the carpet runners on the hallway floors were. The place wasn’t all that large–Treize didn’t come here all that often, only for business.
“Please, ‘Treize’ is fine.”
They arrived at a double door entrance at the end of a long hallway. Two men were stationed outside it; both saluted, their heels clicking together as they stood a little taller, a little straighter.
“‘Sir’ makes me feel old and stiff. All soldiers I consider as my equals.”
“You will be playing the part of a nameless test subject for this friend. Nothing brutal. He is building something that is in dire need of a beta tester and so far all of them have died due to a lack of skill. But Noin spoke highly of you, and that is why I chose you.”That's all within the FIRST CHAPTER. It does NOT get better from there. It gets worse, in fact lmao
“That’s it?”
Treize nodded. “Report everything you see and hear. I expect this to be a rather long assignment. Most undercover missions are a few months, but with things the way they are… It will probably be longer.”
Aodhan nodded. “I see.”
“Will you accept this mission, Cadet Clark?”
Aodhan leaned back in the chair, crossing one leg over the other at the knee.
“And what’s the reward? What do I gain from this?”
“Come back alive…and you’ll be given a warm welcome to Specials…Lieutenant.”
A promotion in rank and a spot amongst OZ’s elite forces. A spot he’d share with his father. A spot he was told to shoot for.
But did he really want it?
“I accept.”
What did he have to lose?
Believe me. There is no redeeming this one. The best thing to do: snark it and then light it on fire lol
