it's the final countdown
Nov. 30th, 2024 10:40 amThanksgiving went well, or at least as expected. No new drama was dredged up at the very least, so that's always good, right? We got our laundry done so we have clean clothes again that should last us until we can get our own washer/dryer but if not theeeen family is only 1.5 hours away!
I hope everyone's holidays went okay. I'll text my brother later to see how everything went. I could text Rob too I guess and ask him how all of that went since he was the one who had Egg, but I'm sure I'll hear all about it as we're getting things ready to load the car up so. Why ask.
Today is the last trip down to Port Jervis. THE LAST TRIP! And then no more because we'll have everything we want to take. Might not be able to take either of the stepladders but I don't really use one anyway? We can purchase that when we're ready to paint some rooms. Which might not be for a while. We have plenty of time though. The important thing is a stepstool and we have one of those, will probably end up with a second one down in the laundry room because my wife is short. You would think that three inches between us wouldn't be a huge amount buuuuut it is. But I do want the puzzle board and the folding bookcase and those should be able to fit on the backseat's floor without a problem. So there is that.
We will also have to take all of our curtains as well. Which is fine. Two panels in the bedroom plus two (or three? I can't remember how many windows the back room has) in the back room. Because those are my curtains and I like them so I am taking them even though Egg would really appreciate it if I left them.
But obviously I'm not going to, because why would I? Those weren't cheap curtains, blackout ones never are. And whilst I don't need blackout curtains in my office (I have blackout blinds instead), I would really like to have them, you know, in our bedroom. They are zodiac themed after all. The bedroom is always going to be space themed. I won't be taking down the planets I hung up because tbh that set wasn't that expensive and I kind of want to pick out a different one anyway. Something a bit nicer, maybe. I have a while because I don't want to put any of that up until the room is painted. It'll probably be the first room I get paint for. And then I can put up my glow in the dark stars and my planets and it'll be really cool.
One thing at a time though.
I bought curtains for my office and new outlet and light switch covers. So there's that too. I ordered a new desk and a new chair so that I can start getting my office together. I'll probably have the printer on the floor until I can get something to put it on.
I'll make a separate entry about how everything went later today. Most of my journaling stuff is still downstate so it'll be nice to, you know, have it all, because I will be starting a new journal. What I'm using now was only ever supposed to be just for the moving process, so. Today is our last day moving, I can start my new journal and decorate things again. We're gonna make a Target run today so I might get a small folding table or something for my office so that I can have a dedicated journaling space...

tomorrow is my three year anniversary with Serena. we plan on doing nothing. as in, laying in bed doing nothing but watching TV or whatever. have a nice dinner, nice dessert... we're not going anywhere. and Bitty can snuggle with both her purrents. she's more or less acclimated to the house now.
last night Aleks and Serena put the bed frame together which was a pain in the ass. there were things that needed to be tightened but the tool they gave to tighten them didn't really work all that well, so he left them because they were secured by other bolts anyway, and it was all hex screws and Aleks hates using hex keys. but it's nice having a bed not on the floor anymore! so now we can take advantage of under bed space and put, idk, shelves or something. drawers. whatever. 'cause why not.
It's nice though, it has a headboard and a footboard. Nothing fancy schmancy but it's different from what we've had before.
