[anime reviews] weiss kreuz kapitel, first opening
Episode 1: Lockvogel - DW, LJ
Episode 2: Fort Laufen - DW, LJ
Episode 3: Paradies - DW, LJ
In case you didn't know Weiss Kreuz has two opening themes. I do believe the first one is "Velvet Underworld", and regardless it's not a song that I particularly care for. The second opening is "Piece of Heaven", which I love. This is the first opening.
No spoilers here, but it is image heavy because, well, it's an opening. What else would there be?
Aya, why are you shirtless? Were you sleeping or showering and suddenly someone came in on your and you grabbed your katana and threatened them? I just don't understand.
I mean I guess it's better than that stupid sweater.
I am still trying to figure out where the dub got "Knight Hunters" from two German words that translate to "white cross", but whatever. I'm sure they translated it into several languages and back again into English and "knight hunters" somehow was the result. I mean I get that Persia calls them "hunters of the night" but. Eurgh.
also no, fandom, that is not a fancy "B". There is a huge difference between "Weiß" and "WeiB". No, really. You don't want to use the word "Weib". You will get smacked. "Oh, but it means wife!" Yeah, so my dictionary from the fifties says. My new one says it's derogatory slang for a woman. Jay says it basically means "old hag". Yeah. Never mind "Weiß" and "Weib" are pronounced differently--compare vais to vaip.
Jay would also tell you it can't be "Weiss kreuz" anyway, it would have to be "weißes Kreuz".
Uh anyway.
Here's Ken doing his favourite thing--playing soccer--surrounded by kids. Ken likes kids. He's nice like that. I can't say he's normal because he most certainly is not--his sanity is kind of lost by the end. That's what killing people does to you, though. Poor Kenken.
This is the face of a killer. He will Shining Finger you to death. Bitch.
Here's Yohji. Or, uh, Youji. It's most certainly not "Yoji", because that is pronounced differently. Ugh. This would be like spelling Aya's name as Aiya. It's not. Yohji's name has three syllables. Yo-u-ji. You are elongating the 'o', really, for two beats instead of just one. "Yoji" is only two.
That's not the worst name butchering ever, though. You should see how many strange variations of "Schuldig" there are in fandom.
Omi, could you look any more non-threatening? Seriously. You have these huge doe eyes. THEY ARE NOT THE EYES OF A KILLER.
Aya looks both murderous and also like he's about to cry. That's...an odd combination. I am pretty sure he is not about to burst into tears, but hey, you just never know.
I tried to catch the individual ones of them but they went by too fast and I was too lazy to go back and do a frame advance so you're getting what you're getting.
...also Crawford and Schuldig are not the same height.
